EliteDRIP Audition Expectations

What we’re looking for overall

We are looking for girls who have talent, yes, but also the mindset to be coached. EliteDRIP is a disciplined team. We want dancers who can take correction, stay focused, and show effort even when they’re nervous.

You don’t have to be perfect. You do have to be prepared, coachable, and ready to work.

Experience requirement

Dancers must have dance experience. This can be:

  • Majorette

  • Hip hop

  • cheer/tumbling with rhythm and dance ability

  • studio dance (jazz, contemporary, etc.) with strong performance skills

  •

What to bring

  • Water bottle

  • Small towel

  • Hair ties / bobby pins

  • Sneakers (clean) and/or dance shoes if you have them

  • Optional: knee pads (if you prefer for floor work)

  • A positive attitude and willingness to be coached

  •

What to wear

  • All black athletic wear (fitted and easy to move in)

  • Sports bra/tank and leggings preferred

  • No jeans

  • No long nails if possible (for safety)

  • Minimal jewelry

  • Hair secured up and out of the face (pony, bun, braided back)

We need to see your body lines clearly to evaluate technique and control.

What will happen at auditions

Tryouts will include a full evaluation of both performance skills and team readiness.

1) Check-in + warm up

  • Attendance, waiver/permission as needed

  • Quick stretch and warm up led by staff

  • We’ll be watching focus, effort, and how you follow direction

2) Technique & fundamentals assessment

We will assess things like:

  • Posture and presence (how you stand and carry yourself)

  • Rhythm and musicality (staying on beat)

  • Coordination (arms + legs + timing)

  • Sharpness/clean lines (majorette style)

  • Flexibility and control (not just how far you can go, but how clean you move)

  • Balance and stability (turns, kicks, transitions)

Expect drills like:

  • March/strut basics

  • Arm placements and precision

  • Kicks (height + control)

  • Simple turns

  • Across-the-floor movement

3) Skills portion (what you can already do)

You may be asked to show:

  • Splits (right/left/middle if you have it)

  • Kicks (highest controlled kick)

  • Leaps (if you have them)

  • Cartwheel / round-off (if you can do it safely)

  • Optional: walkover/aerial only if you already have it (no risky trying new tricks)

Important: We are not only looking for “tricks.” We care more about control, cleanliness, and confidence.

4) Combination / choreography learning

You will learn a short routine on the spot (majorette + hip hop influence). We will evaluate:

  • How quickly you pick up choreography

  • How well you retain it after a few run-throughs

  • How you clean it up when corrected

  • Energy, facials, and performance

  • Stamina and consistency

5) Performance groups

You’ll perform in small groups so we can see:

  • Spacing and awareness

  • Team timing

  • Confidence under pressure

  • Leadership and follow-through

  • Whether you shrink or rise when eyes are on you

6) Coachability + attitude check

This matters a lot. We’re watching:

  • Respectfulness

  • Focus (no side conversations)

  • Listening

  • How you respond to corrections

  • How you treat other girls

  • Whether you keep going after mistakes

EliteDRIP is sisterhood and discipline. We don’t do mean girl energy, bullying, or drama.

How dancers are selected

Selection is based on a full picture, not one moment:

  • Skill level and experience

  • Timing/rhythm

  • Performance presence

  • Ability to learn quickly

  • Coachability

  • Team attitude

  • Potential (some girls are raw but ready)

Spots are limited, so we are building a team that can train hard and represent well.

Parent expectations (important)

If your dancer makes the team, we expect:

  • Consistent attendance (practice is not optional)

  • On-time drop off/pick up

  • Communication if anything comes up

  • Respect for staff and team rules

  • Support at performances and events when possible

This is a commitment, and we take the girls’ growth seriously.

What will get you sent home or disqualified

  • Disrespect to staff or other dancers

  • Unsafe behavior (trying tricks you can’t do)

  • Not following instructions repeatedly

  • Bullying, rude comments, constant attitude

  • Inappropriate clothing

We protect the environment, period.

Costs & Financial Expectations

EliteDRIP is proud to be a free community-based program. There are no monthly tuition fees to participate. Our goal is to remove financial barriers while still maintaining a high standard of discipline, training, and excellence.

What “free” means

There is no monthly class or team fee. Dancers are not charged for weekly training, rehearsals, or instruction. Participation is based on experience, commitment, hard work, and attitude, not income.

Start-up costs (one-time or as-needed)

While there are no monthly fees, families should be prepared for start-up costs that help cover essentials such as:

  • Team uniform or practice gear

  • Performance attire

  • Shoes or accessories required for routines

  • Competition or performance registration (if applicable)

  • Team apparel (optional but encouraged)

These costs will be communicated clearly in advance, and we do our best to keep them reasonable.

What we expect instead of money

Because this program is free, we expect:

  • Consistent attendance

  • Commitment to practices and performances

  • A strong work ethic

  • Respect for coaches, teammates, and the program

  • A positive attitude and willingness to be coached

EliteDRIP is an opportunity. We take it seriously, and we expect our dancers and families to do the same.

Our heart behind this

EliteDRIP exists to serve the community. We believe talented girls deserve access to structured, high-quality training regardless of financial circumstances. All we ask in return is experience, effort, accountability, and commitment.

Quick “Audition Day” mindset for the girls

Come ready to work. Come ready to be coached. Come ready to lead. Come ready to shine. Don’t worry about being nervous. Show us you can stay focused through it.
